Ah, the little vape bands. Sometimes when you order a vape online or in a store, you’ll get a little vape band included with your purchase. They’re a miniature version of the rubber charity bracelets that were popular nearly twenty years ago.
Sometimes receiving this unexpected gift will make you feel confused. Most of us will throw this vape band away because we do not understand what to do with it or what it is used for.
So what are they used for? They may not have any real use other than as a piece of jewelry, but vapers , who can find a use for even the most useless things, have found the perfect application for these vape bands: protecting the glass of your atomizer.
Vape bands may not be the most sophisticated-looking vape accessory, but they are incredibly useful. Even if you don’t use an RTA , there are other uses for vape bands that you can take advantage of.
1. Protective ring for tank glass
Even though most RTAs today have a sturdy metal body, glass is still glass and will break if hit hard, leaving behind a mess of broken pieces and spilled juice . Just take a vape band of the right size, put it on the tank glass and leave it there. The vape band will extend about 1.5mm beyond the tank glass, becoming a shockproof part to protect the entire RTA.
It’s true that most manufacturers include a replacement lens in their packaging these days, but that also speaks to how common glass breakage is, so if a vape band can help you avoid it, why not? (Besides, who carries a replacement lens when they go out?)
2. Ring-a-ding-ding!
Today's atomizers have more complex designs (beautiful and expensive) so it's more common to see vapers put a vape band on the head and use a tank instead of a glass tank.
More importantly, the vape band can easily protect the atomizer from scratches or dangerous drops that can cause serious damage such as deforming the build plate. The vape band is not the most perfect protection, but it is still an effective means of bearing force if the worst situation really happens.
3. No worries about breaking essential oil bottles
While many e-liquids are now packaged in large plastic bottles, many vapers still prefer 30ml glass bottles. And like glass tanks, these bottles can break easily if you’re not careful.
Although they do require stretching and adjusting to fit some bottle designs, vape bands can save you a ton of money and hassle.
4. Avoid leaks
Sometimes just closing the airflow holes is not enough to prevent e-liquid leakage. With RTAs that are complex and prone to leakage, vape bands become a part of the guarantee to prevent e-liquid from leaking when building coils and wicking.
While keeping the essential oil in the vents isn't a permanent solution for leaking tanks, it is a quick fix when needed.
Steam Crave once released an RDTA called Aromamizer that used a vape band as an airflow adjustment ring. Although it didn't look very nice, it still did a good job of adjusting the airflow to the user's liking.
5. Fulcrum
Vape bands can be considered the easiest way to remove atomizers that are too tightly attached or slippery due to e-liquid and moisture.
By placing the vape band over the head and base of the atomizer, then resting it on it and twisting it a few times, most atomizers will come apart without any problems.
6. Shield
Although box mods are considered the standard, tube mods are still quite popular. But tube mods have a huge disadvantage: the lack of corner covers. This leads to a leak in the tank, causing the juice to run straight into the switch, or even into the circuit.
While not the best way, by putting a vape band over the tank portion of a tube mod, it can act as a barrier to stop e-juice leaking before it reaches the switch, screen, and battery.
7. Handle
Most mech mods use a bottom switch to connect the battery to the atomizer, creating an unforgettable experience. This way of starting is effective but not safe.
Put one or two vape bands on the bottom button, you will have more support to hold and avoid accidentally dropping the mech while tricking or using it in crowded places.
A simple item
No one wants to see their vape device broken, scratched, or cracked. Before vape bands, these problems were not easy to fix. Vape bands may not have been designed for the many uses that vapers use them for, but they still do the job.
