Vape Dictionary from A to Z (Part 2)

In part one, we talked about some common terms used when using vape. In part two, let's continue to learn about other terms.

13 - M

MTL - Mouth to lung - The simplest vaping method, inhale vape vapor from your mouth and exhale.

Mechanical Mod - Also known as a mechanical device, a type of electronic cigarette with a simple structure, containing no other circuits other than the battery. Only for vapers who have a certain understanding of ohm's law and battery safety.

mAh - Unit of measurement for battery capacity.

mg - Unit of measurement of nicotine in e-liquid.

Mod - A term used to describe any type of e-cigarette that is not a cig a like or vape pen.

14 - N

Nicotine - An ingredient found in electronic cigarettes in small doses, users can customize the amount of nicotine according to their needs.

New Nicotine Alliance - Also known as NNA, New Nicotine Advocates, a pro-vape group that promotes and advocates for tobacco harm reduction.

Nickel - A type of wire used to wrap coils for burners. Often used with heating devices.

Nichrome - A type of coil wire for atomizers.

15 - O

Ohm - Unit of measurement of resistance of coils and pre-made coil heads.

Ohm's Law - A mathematical formula used to calculate the power that will be used based on the resistance and voltage of the battery.

16 - P

Passthrough - Allows users to vape while the device is still charging.

PG - Propylene Glycol, an ingredient found in essential oils. One of two solvents used, can create a throat hit.

Priming - Also known as priming the cotton wick, the act of wetting the cotton wick before vaping by dropping a few drops of essential oil directly onto the cotton wick or letting the atomizer sit for a while after filling the tank with essential oil.

17 - Q

QCS - Quick Change System. A type of atomizer technology that allows users to instantly change the cotton wick for the coil head.

18 - R

RTA - Rebuildable Tank Atomizer, a type of atomizer with a reserve essential oil chamber, you can build your own coil or use the manufacturer's coil.

RBA - Rebuildable Atomizer, a type of atomizer that allows users to use homemade coils, most of the current atomizers on the market are RBA.

RDA - Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer, a type of atomizer without a tank, you can make and install your own coil and directly fill the essential oil onto the cotton wick.

Resistance - Used to evaluate the strength of the coil wire's resistance to current flow. Coils with low resistance can draw more power from a fixed battery voltage.

19 - S

Squonking - A type of device and atomizer that is filled with e-liquid by squeezing a soft bottle containing e-liquid placed inside the device. Allows you to vape continuously while out and about even when using an RDA.

Stealth vape - Also known as hidden vape, refers to the use of low-power devices with light-smelling essential oils that are less noticeable when vaping in the office or in public places.

Sub Ohm - Just vape with resistance below 1.0 ohm.

Steeping - Some e-liquids are shaken before vaping to mix the ingredients and are ready to use immediately after purchase. Some e-liquids require a steeping period to develop a stronger flavor before they can be used. This method is often used with dessert or tobacco flavored e-liquids.

20 - T

TC - Temperature Control, heating mode. Using some coils made of Nickel or Nichrome wire... users can set their desired temperature on the device. This will ensure your coil does not overheat and burn, minimizing the possibility of dry hits.

TPD - Tobacco Products Directive. EU regulation covering both tobacco and e-cigarettes.

Tank - The tank, the part that holds the essential oil of the RTA.

Titanium - A type of coil wire for atomizers. Usually used in heating mode.

21 - U

Unregulated - A form of e-cigarette that has no internal circuitry and uses only battery voltage.

22 - V

Voltage - Vol - A unit of measurement of the battery's current. The higher the number, the stronger the current into the battery, which will cause the burner to heat up faster.

Vapers tongue - A term used to describe when you are temporarily unable to taste your favorite e-liquid for a short period of time.

Vape porn - Only unique coil styles, weird wick placement, high end mods.

Venting - This happens when the battery is not used properly. If the battery gets too hot due to being forced to drain the power beyond its limit or due to previous damage, the battery will fall into a state of thermal discharge, meaning that the battery will not be able to cool itself anymore. Gas and substances in the battery will leak out and explode. To avoid this situation, read about battery safety and always be careful when using it.

Vooping - Refers to vaping while on the toilet.

23 - W

Wattage - A measure of power that allows you to adjust the current of the battery. The higher the wattage, the faster the burner will heat up.

Wicking - A wick, usually cotton, is threaded through the coil to draw up the essential oil.

24 - Z

Zero nic - Essential oil does not contain nicotine.
