No one is a good vaper from the beginning, everyone was once a newbie. Burning cotton coils, spilling juice, leaking atomizers,... do you feel familiar? After a few years of vaping, I think I have seen and experienced all those mistakes, especially when I first fumbled with my first vape kit. Everyone has experienced those funny things, but don't give up. Nowadays, accessing vape has become much easier and of course, new players don't need to have too much knowledge to get used to them. However, this is still a hobby that requires experience, and no one wants to experience bad things. So in this article, let's find out with me the mistakes when starting to vape.
1. Buy combos that are too complicated or from the beginning
One of the problems new vapers encounter is buying a vape that doesn’t suit their needs. It’s a sad reality that many sellers never ask about their customers’ needs, they just want to get the money. Buyers are often “drugged” into expensive, complicated vape kits, but have absolutely no time or interest in using them. So for newbies, it’s best to start with devices that are easy to use, have the same draw and “thickness” (throat hit) as traditional cigarettes. These devices are often very compact, have no adjustment buttons, and operate automatically, making them easy for new users to get used to.
One way to get the right combo is to... borrow one from a friend. Ask other users about their experiences and how they use the device, then try it yourself and decide whether to spend the money or not.
2. Buying poor quality products
You come across vape devices, juice bottles advertised somewhere online, but their prices are too cheap, for example only 300k for a vape device or 100k for a bottle of juice, and you think you have found a good price, a steal deal? I am sorry to say that the market does not work like that. If you come across a post about cheap vapes, it is either a “historic” device that has been on the market for a few years and no one wants it anymore, or a product with no reputation and poor quality.
However, do not be too pessimistic when thinking that little money cannot play vape, that is not true. Currently there are many cheap products but still ensure quality, such as disposable pods, they are very simple, do not need customization, fit is what newbies need in a vape.
3. Starting at the wrong nicotine level
One of the most common mistakes is choosing the wrong nicotine level. If you are a traditional cigarette smoker and want to switch to vaping, the most important thing is not to start at too low a level. Your body needs a level of nicotine just enough to satisfy your cravings, if you start at too low a level you will quickly get bored with vaping. However, at high levels of nicotine like 12-18ni, the harshness will be too much compared to traditional cigarettes, at this time think about using salt nicotine.
Of course, too much nicotine in e-liquid is not good, especially with salt nicotine, they often have 2-3 times higher ni level than regular cigarettes. Getting drunk on ni when taking the first puff in the morning is normal, but if you experience this phenomenon every few hours, it is likely a symptom of nicotine poisoning, please throw away the current e-liquid and find another bottle with a lower ni level.
4. Choosing the wrong essential oil flavor
Choosing the right essential oil is very important, of course the first thing you need to do is to get the right level of ni, choose the right flavor, especially the first time you try vaping will decide whether you continue this hobby or not. Start with the foods you eat every day, if you like apples? Buy apple juice, if you like pineapple? Choose pineapple juice for a safe choice. Of course, tasting food directly and the flavor through juice has many differences, no one can describe exactly what a bottle of juice will be like, so to know what your favorite flavor is, try a few before buying.
5. Not following the manufacturer's charging instructions

This is probably the most common mistake for a newbie. In many cases, my friends or customers have had to replace the battery or worse, throw away the device after only a few days of purchase. The battery is the beating heart of the vape, although charging the wrong power source or charging incorrectly rarely causes an explosion, it often significantly reduces the battery's lifespan. Most devices now require a 5V-1A charging source (output of the iPhone 7 charger or lower), if you intentionally charge these devices with a fast charger from 2A or higher, the battery will overload and "suddenly die". If it is a removable battery device, it is easy to replace the battery, but most pod mods are equipped with built-in batteries, a dead battery means that your pod, no matter how expensive, has become a paperweight. So before using, take a few seconds to read the manufacturer's instructions. If you cannot read foreign languages or cannot read the small print, ask a consultant. They will explain and give you the most specific notes about the battery.
As an aside, vaping is a device that requires a lot of power output, so it is better if you do not use up a battery completely. Usually, experienced vapers will advise that you should only use the battery to 30% and then replace it or recharge it. This is a very important advice to help prolong the life and stability of the battery, especially for those who are using a mech mod.
6. Not seeking help
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with friends.” Personally, I find this saying to be true in any field, not just in any field. The help here can be understood as information on the internet or the people around you. Especially those who have used vape before you. I myself have such a brother and until now I still call him a “living dictionary”. No one knows everything about vape, but those “veterans” have enough experience and knowledge to answer your questions when you first start playing. They will help you save a lot of time and money when you start learning and playing vape.
Moreover, if vaping is considered a hobby, then what fun is it if you only play it alone? Vapers are very open people (most of them) and they are not afraid to communicate and share their experiences with other players, don't be afraid to ask questions.
7. Not knowing the rules of vaping

The rules I want to talk about here are not about knowledge like how to buy a vape, how to fill essential oils,... but about rules of conduct. If we want to build a civilized vape community, we need to start with the behavior of each individual. Some of the rules that every vaper needs to know are not to breathe smoke into the face of the person opposite (unless you want to create a photo effect), not to smoke in front of children, not to smoke in places like schools, hospitals. In addition, there are also unwritten rules that we often joke with each other like not to refuse juice, not to lick the drip tip when borrowing someone else's vape,... but I think you already understand these things, right?
