Choosing the right vape kit for beginners

I still remember the confusion at that time.

You see people vaping and decide to give it a try. At first it seems simple: just replace your cigarette pack with a vape device , and you’re done. Any e-cigarette kit will do the trick.

But when you start shopping for a kit, things get complicated. There are more different types of e-cigarettes than you might think, and there’s so much debate that it can be hard to know which type of e-cigarette is right for you as a beginner.

You could go to a vaper you know for advice, but they'll only make you more confused.

Vapers tell you terms like “ box mod ” and “eGo” like they understand them, ask you questions about throat hit and PG/VG ratios, then conclude that “ Sub ohm ” is the only way.

In comparison, going back to the simplicity of randomly choosing a cigarette brand seems like the easiest option. Should you be drawn into this confusing world of terminology and technical products just to get your nicotine fix?

How can you possibly understand the complexities of the vaping world before you can get serious about kicking the dangerous smoking habit?

Choosing the right vape kit for you is not an easy task, and taking some time to think and decide will definitely make you satisfied.

So where do you start? How do you know you've chosen the right kit for your needs?

Through this article, we hope to help you get a brief understanding of the types of vape devices and ensure that when you press the buy button, you have chosen the right one for you.

Overview of some basic vape devices

Before making a decision, it's helpful to know what you're choosing between.

All e-cigarettes work on the same principle – vaporizing e-liquid using an electrically heated coil – however, there are major differences between how Cig-a-likes, eGos and Mods work that you need to know:

Cig-a-likes: These e-cigarettes look exactly like regular cigarettes. They have a small internal battery, a coil, and e-liquid stored in a cartomizer. You use them just like you would a cigarette.

eGo – vape pen: This type of vape device no longer looks like a cigarette, they have a shape and size that looks more like a pen or a round cylinder. eGo has a tank containing e-liquid and coil, their battery also has a longer life than Cig-a-likes. Unlike Cig-a-likes, this type of device will start heating the e-liquid when you press and hold the switch.

Box mod: This is the largest type of vape device, but they come in many different shapes and sizes. They usually have a square (or other blocky) design and operate in a similar way to the eGo. Box mods have the advantage over eGos in that they have a large capacity (you can customize the machine's capacity to your liking), long battery life, many support features, and no fixed atomizer.

Starter kit : The ideal choice for most beginner vapers, a starter kit includes a box mod or vape pen, an atomizer (RTA or Clearomizer ). Starter kits usually have moderate power and are quite easy to use. You can ask the store staff to assemble the kit for you and use it immediately after purchase.

There is another type of vape device called Mech mod or mechanical machine, but we will not mention it for now because Mech mod is not suitable for people who are new to vaping.

Things to consider when choosing a vape device

No matter who you are, there are a few key points everyone needs to consider when choosing the e-cigarette kit that best suits their needs.

This isn't the most important thing to decide, but it's still worth keeping in mind when weighing the pros and cons of different types of devices.

1. How much can you spend?

Switching to vaping can actually save you money, but the initial cost is not small.

While you can just pull out a cigarette and smoke, vaping requires a device, charger, atomizer, and e-liquid. The costs of maintaining a vaping business – mainly buying coils and e-liquid – are quite cheap, but you still need to invest a bit when you first start.

It is important to have some starting capital. No one can choose the best one for you, so you will have to consider and calculate how much you can spend.

The best advice is to try vaping before you spend a lot of money on a big purchase. If you have a friend or relative who vapes, ask them if they can help you try their device. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to vaping, but a few tries will tell you if vaping is right for you.

How much you want to spend depends on your needs, and while we encourage you to choose the one that best suits you, make sure you don't accidentally end up with too much money in your account.

2. Easy to use

One of the things that differentiates e-cigarettes from one another is how easy they are to use. E-cigarettes aren’t terribly complicated, but they do require some knowledge to be safe.

Cig-a-likes are the easiest to use. You simply insert the Cartomizer into the battery and use it like you would a cigarette. When you are done with one Cartomizer, you can throw it away and replace it with another. If you want to vape without too much fuss, this is the device for you.

The eGo is not too difficult to use. The main difference is that you have a tank that needs to be filled with e-liquid before use, and when the coil is damaged, you need to remove it to replace it. Overall, the eGo requires a little more time, but overall it is very easy to use, suitable for beginners.

Box mods are probably the most difficult for beginners to understand. They have a display, two or three additional control buttons in addition to the power switch, and features like adjusting the wattage or setting a maximum temperature.

However, this type of device usually comes with a table of contents system, most of which will have a section that displays coil resistance or other parameters that most beginners are not familiar with.

Of course, getting familiar with box mod is not really difficult, with just a few days of getting acquainted, you can easily understand the commands and parameters of box mod, you can customize your own settings and use it regularly.

3. How do you want your device to look?

A word of advice, don't judge a book by its cover, very true with vaping.

Just because a Cig-a-like looks like a cigarette doesn’t make it the perfect alternative. And just because a box mod doesn’t look like a cigarette doesn’t make it a bad choice.

So, if you can pre-select the form factor of the device you want to buy, it can greatly simplify your choices. Not everyone likes box mods, and not everyone likes Cig-a-likes.
